The closing ceremony of the International Media Expedition was held on 6th June in Moscow on the eve of the FIFA World Cup. 50 young bloggers from 24 countries had a week trip around 11 Russian cities that will host the FIFA World Cup 2018: Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi and Yekaterinburg.
All participants were divided into 5 groups, each of them had its own unique route. The routes included over 20 quests about Russian history, national traditions, tourist attractions of each city they visited. In total they saw over 140 of the most famous cultural and historical monuments as well as unique nature reserves. Moreover, the bloggers visited some facilities built for the World Football Championship: stadiums, volunteer and tourist information offices. The young people noted the high level of the facilities, friendliness and good language skills of volunteers as well as good tourist infrastructure.
To learn more about culture and life of peoples in Russia, 15 unique master classes were organized for the bloggers: in different cities they cooked the most popular national dishes, learnt how to play folk musical instruments, dance folk dances and tried traditional crafts of the peoples in Russia.
Each event was very informative and communication – open, lively and interesting. This can be judged by the number of posts made by the media bloggers in social networks during the expedition, there were over 1000 posts.
On 6th June all participants gathered again in Moscow to make a conclusion about the trip and share their impression. The best media guide was chosen at the closing ceremony of the Media Expedition: it was made by the team that explored Rostov-on-Don and Sochi.
Besides, the expedition participants Milton Valente from Mozambique and Mazoon Al-Zadjali from Oman were awarded with commemorative medals and certificates on behalf of the RF President Vladimir Putin for contribution to the formation of national delegations at the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students.
